Halloween Shootout Campout at Ten Mile River Scout Campground
This past weekend, October 15th and 16th, our Scouts participated in the Halloween Shootout camping event at Ten Mile River. Over a dozen troops from the tri-state area participated in a day of activities which included various firearms, archery and axe throwing, followed by a celebratory banquet.
From our Troop Historian:
Some scouts camped Friday night and slept in the cold, some came Saturday morning. We went to the shooting range early and got a rifle, shotgun and bow
safety briefing. I was too young to shoot rifles and shotguns, so I did archery and axe throwing. I broke 3 axes
Some people thought it was warm. I thought it was cold.
We had boys and girls from our troop. My mom, brother and I stay over Saturday night. It felt like -10°
but we were prepared.
Lots of people did the gun shooting! It was lots of fun!
