Troop 173 – Fall Court of Honor

On October 24th, Troop 173 held our Fall Court of Honor. 19 Scouts earned over 80 Merit badges plus additional awards, including two BSA Scuba Awards, a National Outdoor Achievement Award, a Paul Bunyan Woodsman Award, two Recruiter Awards, one Cyber Chip and a BSA World Conservation Award! Troop 173 at Fright Fest – Six Flags New England!

This past Saturday, 10 scouts and their families spent the day at Six Flags New England, including a behind the scenes tour of Superman – the acclaimed roller-coaster which includes a 213 foot drop and reaches speeds in excess of 77mph! Kick-off Campout at Durland!

On the weekend of September 17th, our scouts kicked off the new scouting year with the first campout of the season! Blue Star Plaque Dedication

On November 11th, scouts from Pack and Troop 173 were invited to participate in the dedication of a Blue Star Memorial at Patriot garden in Yorktown. Veterans Day Parade

An important aspect of Scouting is giving back to the community. We seek to incorporate this value into activities planned throughout the year. One such event that Troop 173 enjoys participating in annually is the Veterans Day Parade to honor our area’s military veterans. read more →

September Campout at Camp Bullowa/Stony Point

For the first campout of the new scouting season, the Troop stayed for our first time at BSA Camp Bullowa in Rockland County. We stayed from Friday through Sunday and on Saturday we took a tour of nearby Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site. read more →

Fall Court of Honor

Troop 173 scouts and families gathered on Monday, October 29th to celebrate our Fall Court of Honor. 5 of our scouts advanced to the Tenderfoot rank, having learned some basic first aid skills and how to tie knots and improving their physical fitness. 2 scouts earned the rank of Second Class. Thunderbird Games 2018

Camp Read 2018

From August 6th to 12th, Troop 173 spent its annual week at Camp Buckskin. While at camp, our scouts took up to 6 merit badges each, and participated in various planned activities.
