Hawaiian Klondike – January 23

Aloha! Join the Manitoga and Muscoot districts for some summer fun (in January) this Saturday at Durland Scout Reservation! Registration has closed for this event.
Many years ago men traveled across the frozen wilderness of Alaska’s Klondike searching for gold using sleds pulled by dogs and carrying gear on prospector frame packs. The 2021 Manitoga/Muscoot District “Hawaiian Klondike Derby” is an experience based on those original travels into the snow covered interior of Alaska, but this year with a Hawaiian twist. The Klondike adventure begins, in advance of the event, with each Patrol building a Prospector Frame as used in the Gold Rush and preparing supplies and equipment. The Prospector Frame will loaded with patrol equipment, secured by a diamond hitch. Patrols journey through woods and fields, up and down hills, to Hawaiian towns where the Scouts’ knowledge, skills, teamwork, and problem solving will be challenged. Patrols will be at each town for about 20-30 minutes.
