Troop 173’s New Scout Campout

On Saturday, 5/4, Troop 173 held the New Scout Campout. This campout is geared towards helping the newest scouts in the troop earn requirements for their ranks. New scouts participated in activities such as fire building, flag ceremonies, a campfire, cooking, lashing, and knot tying to help them achieve their Scout rank. While the younger boys worked on advancement, our older scouts took part in the district camporee, where they worked to find stations around the reservation where they did team building and communication exercises. At each station, they were graded based on their quality of communication and teamwork and competed with other troops to attain higher scores. This year’s New Scout Campout was a great success and each scout learned something new that will help them and our troop through the journey of scouting.
